Sterling Veterans’ Memorial Day Ceremony

32nd Sterling Veterans’ Memorial Day Ceremony

American Legion Post 150 held its 32nd Veterans’ Day Memorial Ceremony at the Sterling Veterans’ Memorial site on Sterling Boulevard on a warm and sky blue Monday, May 26 at 11 AM.

The Invocation and Benediction was led by Pastor Paul Liepelt of the Dranesville Church of the Brethren.

The Sterling United Methodist Church Choir wonderfully sang America the Beautiful, Star Spangled Banner and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Boy Scout Troop 956.

Remarks and Introductions were smartly coordinated by Legion Commander Ann Kuo.

Delegate Dave Poisson (32nd District) provided an inspiring and emotionally uplifting Keynote Address.

The presentation of the wreath was conducted by Boy Scout Troop 956.

The Rifle Salute was performed by Post 150 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9478.

Taps were played by Adam Wise and Brian Kuo.

The Raising of Colors was performed by Troop 956.

The ceremony concluded at 12 noon with an estimated 100 people attending the event.

I would like to thank Post 150 and many local organizations for their upkeep in maintaining and improving the appearance of the Sterling Veterans’ Memorial.  This memorial ceremony remains one of the significant annual events in Sterling Park.
