Women's issues important to voters

Last week I was disturbed to learn that Congressional candidate Keith Fimian thinks women's issues are irrelevant to voters. As one of the former chairs of the Fairfax Commission on Women and former member of the Virginia Commission on the Status of Women and I am concerned Mr. Fimian will hide his position on women's rights issues from voters.
Keith Fimian’s views on contraception and women’s rights are far too extreme for our district. Mr. Fimian labels these issues as irrelevant to the 11th District. It is hard to believe that someone running for public office could be so out of touch with his constituency.
It is not clear where Mr. Fimian stands on important issues like federal funding for stem cell research, access to birth control, and a women’s right to choose. Mr. Fimian's silence on these issues is an indication that he may turn back the clock on women's rights. He may evade questions for the duration of the campaign, but the women of the 11th District deserve to know that Keith Fimian will not represent their interests.
Candidate Fimian may dodge important questions regarding women's rights, but Congressman Fimian will not have that luxury. Mr. Fimian, please allow us to enter our polling booths as informed voters.
