Task force needs more info
The Tysons Land Use Task Force has announced a delay in its final presentation of recommendations for the future development of Tysons Corner. According to task force chair Clark Tyler, the group will present its proposed recommendations to George Mason University's Center For Regional Analysis to obtain incremental projections of how Tysons will develop over the next several years.
The task force's recommendations, which are far larger in scope than most expected, were to be analyzed by traffic consultants Cambridge Systematics before going to the Board of Supervisors. Now, that analysis won't happen until after the GMU analysis is complete, delaying the group's results until at least September.
According to Tyler, the incremental results are necessary to demonstrate the progression of growth in Tysons over the next few decades, and to justify the task force's high expectations for growth in Tysons. The proposed recommendations are 20 million square feet of development more than their paid consultant's highest projections. Currently Tysons contains just over 40 million square feet of development.
