Local nonprofit receives free landscaping

 Alternative House, a Vienna-based nonprofit that supports abused, homeless children and assists young mothers, received free landscaping work from Brickman Group, a landscaping company based in Sterling. This summer, Brickman brought a crew of 10 people to Alternative House to mow the lawn, mulch the flower beds, repair a fence, plant flowers and even plant a vegetable garden. They also pruned the trees and removed debris from the grounds of Alternative House. Every summer, the Brickman Group donates one day to community service in honor of its founder, Theodore Brickman Sr.
