The “14th Annual National Young Writers & Illustrators Contest 2008” was a success. The celebration was held on Friday May 30th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum in Boynton beach, arranged by WXEL and presented by Director of Community Affairs, Marlene Figueroa, M.Ed.

The contest was sponsored by Arthur Vining Davis Foundation, Country Inns & Suites, Bank Atlantic and more.

One of the winner is Aihber Waseem Khan, 6. She’s from Wellington, Florida She’s a student of Binks Forest Elementary school. The principle, Dr. Hopkins made Aihber appear in Morning pledge and morning news, and whole school was proud of Aihber’s acievements.

Winners got Certificate of Achievement autographed by Mr. LeVar Burton, who’s the host of the famous PBS children's program Reading Rainbow. He’s also a multiple Daytime Emmy Award and Grammy Award winning American actor, director and author. Other prizes were Reading Rainbow’s backpacks, filled with educational stuff like Reading Rainbow DVD, Story books, PBS Kids T-shirt, colors, watch and more.
